Water

Through efforts at the state and local level, the MACD supports restoring health to our waterbodies and promoting awareness of water pollution issues.

  • Many Districts assist their local lakes and ponds through annual aquatic plant surveys looking for invasive plants that would impact the wildlife and water quality of the area.

  • Some Districts assist their municipalities with complying with Clean Water Act stormwater permit requirements through education and technical services.

  • Many stream crossings are undersized or in deteriorating condition, putting public safety, wildlife, and water quality at risk. Districts help assess the stream, design the improved crossing, and receive grant funds to replace the crossing.

  • Districts are experts at conducting watershed surveys, writing watershed management plans to address survey sites, and receiving grant funds to help fix erosion sites along shorelines, yards, driveways, and roads.
