2025 Maine Envirothon Winners
Congratulations to the Maine Academy of Natural Sciences team for placing first and earning the ability to compete at the international Envirothon competition in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in July.
Spruce Mountain High School Team 1 came in second place and Old Town High School Team 2 came in third place.

The Maine Envirothon program provides opportunities for high school students to gain hands-on natural resource knowledge and study current environmental issues with state soil scientists, biologists, foresters, and other natural resource professionals.
If interested, teams of 3-5 students can also compete each spring to solve hands-on problems on five topics:
Aquatics
Forestry
Soils
Wildlife
2026 natural resource current issue: Nonpoint Source Pollution: It begins at home!
The winning team of the Maine competition can compete at the International competition for individual college scholarships.

Each team registration is $125 and closes on April 3, 2026. A study packet is provided to all registered teams.

Forestry (certain locations may offer Compass Skills and Tree ID as separate stations)
Wildlife
Fall field days are $5 per student and lunch is provided. Cash or check payment can be made the day of the event.

Hands-on Tool Practice (Compass, GPS, Biltmore)
Tree ID
Silviculture
Wildlife
Aquatics
Students select the four topics that interest them the most to rotate through.
